
Bio
Leaf Pankratz (they/them) is a Canadian performer and artist. With a background in theatre, their work explores a philosophy of disability as a creative catalyst. Their work as an interdisciplinary creator and producer includes drag performance, contemporary dance, physical theatre, visual and sound art, performance, and circus arts. They first began training in theatre at the age of four, and have continued ever since expanding into improv comedy, physical theatre, and musical theatre. Having recently graduated from the Theatre Studies MA program at the University of Guelph, they hold a BAHonours from the University of Winnipeg in linguistics and theatre, and a Certificate in Deaf Studies through Red River College. Pankratz has trained with SITI company, Prairie Circus Arts, and the National Ballet School of Canada. Pankratz’s short film, Adamah, has screened internationally as an official selection of the Circus International Film Festival, and in the Reel Pride Winnipeg shorts competition. Their live performance adaptation/continuation piece debuted at the Helmut Gallery in Leipzig, Germany.
